Dahlias grow and produce the best with a low-nitrogen fertilizer. We recommend applying fertilizer to them about once a month after they have grown to about 18″. The best fertilizer for dahlias is one that is low in nitrogen but high in potassium and phosphorus ( examples, 5-10-10 or 10-20-20 ). This will give your plant the right fuel for great flower production and healthy tubers.
