We recommend staking your dahlia plants. It isn’t necessary to stake plants that are 3ft or shorter. It is best to put your stakes in at the same time that you plant your tubers. There is less chance of damaging your tuber by putting your stake or tomato cage in while you can still see where your tuber is. If you are planting in long rows, we like to use metal T posts every 8-10 ft. starting at the outer edges of the garden. We then use bailing twine from post to post on either side of the rows. When the plants are about 2 1/2’to 3′ and again at 4-5′.
